adidas Kids LED screens at MEGA

The project for adidas Kids at MEGA mall in Almaty is about non-standard geometry. Of the store’s three LED structures, two are not rectangular: they had to be designed together with their steel frames rather than picked from stock sizes.

A 4 × 3 m transparent screen

One zone of the store holds a Transparent LED screen measuring 4 × 3 metres. The transparent structure of the panel keeps the space light: the sales floor shows through the screen, daylight passes further in, and the content still reads brightly. In a children’s store that matters — you do not want the floor divided by solid walls.

A half-round screen at the entrance

The most unusual solution in the project is a half-round screen measuring 1.44 × 3.84 m in the entrance area. A separate steel structure was fabricated for it, calculated around the intended geometry of the panel, and the screen was built on flexible P2.5 modules. A flexible module bends to the set radius, so the half-circle comes out smooth — with no chain of flat segments and no visible joints along the curve.

A curved ticker above the till

For the till area a curved steel frame was welded and a ticker on a flexible P2.5 module mounted on it. The ticker measures 5.20 × 0.16 m. The line follows the counter rather than hanging above it as a separate straight bar.

Why flexible modules rather than standard ones

A rigid LED cabinet is a plane. Any curve assembled from cabinets becomes a polygon: the tighter the radius, the more visible the facets and joints. A flexible module lies along the arc as a whole, so the image does not break at the bend. The price for that is a dedicated steel frame for each shape: the frame is what sets the radius and holds the geometry.

What the store got

• a 12 m² transparent screen that does not close off the floor;
• a half-round LED surface at the entrance — a shape that cannot be built from standard cabinets;
• a ticker following the geometry of the till;
