LED screen for School-Gymnasium No. 133

School-Gymnasium No. 133 in Almaty, 26 Aksay-1 district, is a large city school whose assembly hall serves both as a concert venue and as a meeting room. In early February 2021 KazLedPro equipped this hall with an LED screen and stage lighting: the school needed a stage where holiday concerts, competitions and graduations look no worse than at city venues, and where meetings and presentations are easy to run on ordinary weekdays. What we did

The screen. An indoor LED screen with a P4 pixel pitch built from 256×256 mm modules. The minimum viewing distance is 4 metres: the front rows of the assembly hall sit at exactly that distance and see a picture with no visible dots. The canvas is continuous and seamless, controlled from a teacher’s desktop computer or laptop.

Stage lighting on a truss. A truss — a metal structure for hanging lighting fixtures — was installed above the stage, and a lighting set was mounted on it. The truss provides the right hanging points: the light is aimed at the stage, and the fixtures do not stand on the floor or get in the performers’ way.

Why this screen

A school assembly hall is rarely darkened — there are children, parents and safety to consider. Unlike a projector, an LED screen gives a bright picture in full light and needs no adjustment before every event. The P4 pitch was chosen to match the distance to the front row: nobody sits closer than 4 metres, and a finer pitch would only have raised the cost. Stage lighting on a truss complements the screen: together they turn a performance on a school stage into a proper show.
