LED screen for School-Gymnasium No. 153 named after A. Rozybakiev

School-Gymnasium No. 153 named after A. Rozybakiev at 27 Sadvakasov Street in Almaty is a large city school whose assembly hall is in use almost every week: ceremonies, concerts, competitions, parent meetings and staff councils. In early February 2021 KazLedPro installed an LED screen and stage lighting in the gymnasium’s assembly hall. The video above shows the hall after commissioning.

What we did

The screen on stage. An LED screen with a P4 pixel pitch built from 256×256 mm modules. The minimum viewing distance is 4 metres: the audience in the hall sees a smooth picture with no visible dots, and presentation text is readable from the back rows. The screen replaces printed banners for every celebration: a backdrop for the last school bell, slides for a ceremony, a clip for a competition — everything loads from a computer in a minute.

Stage lighting on a truss. We installed a metal truss and hung lighting fixtures on it. At concerts and school discos the lighting runs in time with the music and turns the school stage into a proper venue, while at a formal ceremony it is simply switched off.

Why this screen

A school assembly hall is a bright room, and nobody draws the curtains for a daytime ceremony. A projector produces a pale picture in these conditions, whereas an LED screen stays visible in full light. A P4 pitch is a sensible choice for a hall where the audience starts at 4 metres: anything denser is unnecessary, and the cost per square metre is lower than for screens built for meeting rooms.
