LED screen at K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University

K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University is the largest university in Aktobe, with thousands of students and staff walking past its buildings every day. In early March 2021 KazLedPro installed an outdoor LED screen for the university: it needed a way to reach everyone heading into a building or passing by — announcements, admissions notices, greetings, broadcasts from celebrations. What we did

We installed an outdoor LED screen with a P10 pixel pitch, assembled from 960×960 mm cabinets. The minimum distance from viewer to screen is 10 metres: this is the distance from which the screen is seen from the road, from the forecourt in front of the building or from the windows of neighbouring buildings. The 960×960 mm cabinet is the outdoor standard: a sealed housing protects the electronics from rain, snow and dust, and the brightness reserve is designed for direct sun.

The screen is assembled into a single seamless canvas and is controlled from a computer at the university: a clip or a notice is uploaded in a minute, and the playback schedule can be set a day or a week ahead.

Why this particular screen

For an outdoor screen viewed from a distance, a fine pixel pitch is money wasted: from 10 metres the eye cannot tell P10 from a more expensive fine pitch, while a P10 screen of the same area costs noticeably less and is simpler to service. The 960×960 mm outdoor cabinet gives a rigid structure that withstands wind loads and the temperature swings of an Aktobe winter and summer.
