LED screen for the Expo 2017 exhibition

In early February 2017 KazLedPro installed an LED screen at the EXPO-2017 site in Astana. The international exhibition was preparing to receive guests from around the world, and the screens on its grounds had to work as a single system for information and presentation — showing videos, schedules and wayfinding in a way that stays readable in a moving crowd. The video above shows the screen on site.

What we did

We supplied and assembled a 9 m² LED screen from 320×160 mm modules. The minimum distance from viewer to screen is 2 metres: from there the picture is already whole, with no visible grain, which means the screen can be placed where people pass close by — next to stands, entrance areas and waiting zones. The canvas is assembled without seams, the image is single across the whole area, and content is swapped from a computer in a minute.

Why this screen

For an exhibition it matters that the screen looks equally good from a distance and up close. A pitch designed for viewing from 2 metres is the middle ground for pavilions and halls: it is denser than outdoor screens built for viewing from tens of metres, yet still bright enough for the picture not to be lost in daylight and under strong exhibition lighting. Nine square metres is a size that is visible from the far end of a hall and at the same time can be assembled on an ordinary steel structure without reinforcing the floors.
