LED screen for the Evraziya TV studio in Almaty

The ORT Evraziya TV studio in Almaty, 13 Republic Square, is a venue where the picture in the background works not for an audience in the room but for the television camera. In early July 2021 KazLedPro installed an LED screen in the studio: the channel needed a live background for filming — with graphics, video and title sequences — that looks clean on camera and does not require the set to be rebuilt for every programme. What we did

We installed an indoor LED screen built from 256×256 mm modules. The minimum viewing distance is 4 metres: at that range, which is roughly where the camera stands relative to the background, the canvas looks solid, with no visible dot structure. The screen is assembled into a single seamless plane; the image is fed from the studio computer, and switching between segments takes seconds.

The screen shows programme title sequences, graphics for reports, live links, and photos and video of studio guests.

Why this screen

In a TV studio the toughest critic is the camera. A projector is useless under studio lighting, while banners and panels are static and have to be changed by hand for every programme. An LED screen gives even brightness across the whole surface and rich colour that sits well in the broadcast picture; the background changes between programmes without any rebuilding. The 256×256 mm cabinet made it possible to build the canvas to the exact dimensions of the set, and the 4-metre distance matches the working position of the camera and the presenters.
