LED screen at Gymnasium No. 132

Gymnasium No. 132 is located in Almaty, in the Aksai-4 district, building 107. In early November 2021 KazLedPro installed an LED screen and stage lighting in the gymnasium’s assembly hall. The school wanted a fully equipped stage for line-ups, concerts, contests and parent meetings — one that would not have to be put together each time from a projector, speakers and rented lights.

What we did

The screen. An indoor LED screen with a P4 pixel pitch, built from 256×256 mm modules into a single canvas on the assembly hall stage. The minimum viewer-to-screen distance is 4 metres, so the front rows see a clean picture while the back rows can read presentation text and the event programme. The screen replaces both the projector and printed banners: a backdrop for a concert, slides for a lesson-conference, a video greeting for a holiday — everything is played from one computer.

Stage lighting on a truss. The lighting fixtures are mounted on a metal truss: it holds the lights at the right height and angle, so the fixtures do not get in the performers’ way or take up stage space. The lighting is switched on for concerts and evening events and stays off for an ordinary line-up.

Why this screen

A P4 pitch with 4 metres to the front row is the classic ratio for a school assembly hall: there is no point going finer, and a coarser pitch would show visible grain from the near seats. The 256×256 mm module is square, so the canvas is easy to fit to the proportions of the stage. A truss for the stage lighting is the right solution for a school hall: the ceiling does not have to carry the load, fixtures can be repositioned or added, and the whole structure can be taken down and moved if the hall is refurbished.
