LED screen at Gymnasium No. 130 named after I. Zhansugurov

Gymnasium No. 130 named after Ilyas Zhansugurov in Almaty, Tastak-1 district, 26a, is a school whose assembly hall is never idle: line-ups, concerts, contests, parent meetings, teacher councils. In early August 2021, ahead of the school year, KazLedPro installed an LED screen in the gymnasium’s assembly hall — a projector and printed banners could no longer handle what the school wanted to show on stage. What we did

We assembled an indoor LED screen with a P4 pixel pitch from 256×256 mm modules. The minimum viewer-to-screen distance is 4 metres: the front row in the assembly hall sits at exactly that distance, so the picture looks smooth from any seat. The canvas is continuous, with no seams; the screen starts up in a minute and is driven from a teacher’s laptop or desktop computer.

What is shown on it: backgrounds and video for concerts, close-up duplication of performances, presentations at meetings and teacher councils, slideshows of class photographs at graduations, holiday greetings.

Why this screen

The lights in a school assembly hall are on almost all the time — darkness with children present is inconvenient and unsafe. A projector gives a washed-out picture in these conditions, while an LED screen holds its brightness and contrast under any lighting. A P4 pitch with a 256×256 mm module is the working standard for school stages: the audience never sits closer than 4 metres, and a more expensive fine pitch would make no visible difference.
