LED screen in Aktau

In early March 2021 KazLedPro installed LED screens in Aktau for a private entrepreneur. For us this was a trip to another region: the equipment and the crew came from Almaty, and installation and commissioning were done on site. The video above shows the screen in operation.

What we did

The project uses modules of two pixel pitches — P8 and P4. Two pitches in one order usually mean two different viewing points.

P8 — a pitch for long distances, comfortable viewing from 8 metres. Screens like this go where the viewer is far away: on facades, above an entrance, along a road. A large pixel gives high brightness, and the cost per square metre is noticeably lower than for fine-pitch screens.

P4 — a pitch for close viewing, comfortable distance from 4 metres. The image is dense enough for text, logos and advertising clips watched from a few metres — the typical choice for an interior or an entrance area.

Why these particular screens

Aktau has bright sun for most of the year, and a screen facing the street has to hold its brightness during the day and be protected from water and dust. Outdoor LED modules are built for exactly that: sealed cabinets and brightness that keeps the picture readable at noon. Where the viewer is close, that brightness is excessive — pixel density matters more, and P4 covers this task without paying for dots that are not needed. Hence two pitches instead of one compromise.

What the client received

• screens for two viewing distances — for the far and the near viewer;
• a picture visible in sunlight and with the lights on;
• advertising changed from a computer in a minute — no printed banners;
• installation and commissioning by a KazLedPro field crew in Aktau.
